Get to know your Worship Center Family!

 

Patricia Charlene Schirlls was married 20 years and had 3 children and now has 2; one boy and one girl.  She has 3 grandsons. She has been living in Lenexa and renting for ten years now-wow! She has volunteered at Overland Park Midwest Hospital for 1 ½ years and helps the people with flowers and Lab errands. Her hobbies are cross stitch on plastic canvas, puzzles and crochet and she loves it! Pat always walks all day and thinks about God and Jesus.  I know that Jesus helps the people and helps to save our life!  Pat’s mother taught her about the Lord and she knows that God always loves the people and helps them to pray.  Kelly Ayers asked me to come to the Worship Center and I love the church and the nice people.  I enjoy the songs and I love to hear the songs. I feel that the Lord called me and He touches my body. God Bless you all!

Jim Campbell has been married for 13 Years. I am a Microsoft Server/Workstation/Network engineer.  I maintain both servers and workstations along with domains and workgroups, implementing group policies and security protocols. As for hobbies, I would really like to fly an airplane, but because of physical limitations I am unable.  However, with the advancement of flight simulation for the computer, I am about as close as I can get.  I do this quite a bit.

 

I have known the Lord since I was 13 years old.  That would be 34 years now. I came to the Worship Center because I was led here by the Lord. Once, while in the Spirit, I heard "Open your eyes".  When I opened my eyes and looked around, I heard the Spirit say "Some of these are where you were".  I like being there because I can assist other individuals who are walking the same path that I once walked.  It's to these that seem to be my focus at this time.  What I really enjoy the most though, is being with like-minded people, who want to worship in both Spirit and Truth. It sounds simple, but John 3:16 is the scripture that the Lord has made real to me.  Over the past year or so, God has really illuminated this for me.  I now, more than ever, understand His love and His perfect covenant with us, one that cannot be broken.

Dale Johnson has been married for 4 Years. I am the Custodian at Shawanoe Elementary School where the Worship Center meets every Sunday evening. My hobbies are swimming, sports, walking, fishing and camping. I have known the Lord for 5 years.  The Worship Center came to me; because I work here at the school. I really love the worship here at the Worship Center. The scriptures have given me understanding and have made the Lord real to me.

Brian & Dayna Ruskin have been married almost 4 glorious years and are hopeful to have a child someday!  Brian is a professional musician and guitar instructor.  Dayna does catering, event planning and wedding cakes and is a marketing specialist for Curves for Women. Dayna’s interests include music, writing, cake decorating, theater, cooking (creating new recipes), reading, white water rafting (haven't done it much lately--but I love it!), roller coasters, baseball, traveling and experiencing other cultures, coffee with girlfriends, romantic dates with my hubby. Brian’s interests include music (learning new instruments on occasion), songwriting, taking long walks at 1:00 a.m., and bike riding at dusk.  Dayna has known the Lord for 15 years (I was born into the church, but was born again in 1993). Brian has known the Lord for 26 years. 

Brian discovered the Worship Center online.  Also, he met Nick Crane who also told him about the Worship Center. We were searching for a church that really believes the Holy Spirit is alive and well and can heal us!  The teaching of the beliefs in the Holy Spirit, the rhema word that is present each time we hear a message given, the welcoming and loving congregation.  Also, the pastor is such a great teacher, leader and really cares about pastoring the congregation.  He has a truly amazing heart and really leads by example.  We are so thankful to find a church that is willing to allow the Holy Spirit to do great works each time we enter into worship here.  So many scriptures have been made real to us.  It would take a week to type all of that.  Endless occurrences in our lifetimes so far of God's word coming to life in very real and transforming ways.  We love the challenge of watching God's rhema word in action -- it's such an exciting mystery to us.

Don and Nancy Sween were amazed and thankful when their house in Bonner Springs sold and closed within 6 weeks in early 2005. Downsized and several years into retirement, they moved to Shawnee.  Nine months later, they “discovered” Pastor John and the Worship Center from a flier on their windshield in January 2006 – the same week they had realized they needed to find another church.

 

Back in 1995, they caught the vision of how similar the internet was to the market places where Paul shared God’s word throughout the world.  Starting with a small site that year on preparing for Christmas, the Lord gave the Sweens more and more ideas for ways to make it easier for people world wide to read and dig into His word on-line.  This turned out to be the work they had hoped to be able to do together after they retired. http://members.aol.com/Sftrail/christ/comment/index.html

 

The Sweens have many interests.  They like to travel back to the Black Hills of South Dakota where they met.  They play fantasy baseball.  Don is an avid reader, follows soccer and the Royals and volunteers at a local community center.  Nancy likes family history research, always hopes the Jayhawks win March Madness and maintains various travel, genealogy and Kansas history web sites.  They have a daughter and son-in-law in KCK whose son plans to marry this August.
